Jackson digested the information thoughtfully. Would she send him down there because she knew that she could count on him, no matter what happened here? And how right was she to think so; it all depended on what the changes brought.

And did a part of her want him out of harm's way - or rather, since the assignment would hardly be risk-free, even given the naive nature of the downstairs crowd, did she want him out of the way altogether?

"If you believe that, is it really the right time to have at downstairs?"

He knew the answer he would make, in her stead - that there would never be a right time - but he wanted to hear what hers would be.
